About Lara

Lara Green, private yoga instructor in Ithaca

Lara has been practicing yoga with joy since 2004.

She earned her 200-hour Vinyasa Flow certification in 2012 in the jungles of Costa Rica with Frog Lotus Yoga International, and is currently studying at the 500-hour level with Vidya Jacqueline Heisel and Jennifer Yarro. In 2019, she mentored a group of 200-hour trainees when she assisted a Frog Lotus teacher training in Southern Spain. She also completed a Foundations of Thai Yoga Massage certification with the Triple Gem School.

In 2013, Lara became certified to teach a creative fusion of Hatha and Vinyasa called Hot Warrior Yoga with Jenilee Toner. A seeker since birth, Lara has studied with Lorin Roche, Coby Kozlowski, Doug Swenson, David Kyle, Rhagunath, and Tara Brach. She practices Vipassana meditation, and has a passion for bringing mindfulness principals into every aspect of life.

Lara receives deep inspiration from her life’s work with children.

For over 15 years she’s worked in classrooms, summer camps, pre-schools, and family homes as a mentor and leader for young people. Most recently, she spent 6 years working at an elementary school in Ithaca, NY as the director of their after school program. She has taught kid’s yoga classes throughout the Fingerlakes region, and chooses to infuse these lessons with breath work, animal sounds, dance parties, and laughter. Her bachelor’s degree in Interpersonal and Intercultural Communication has allowed her the opportunity to make connections with people from all walks of life. She believes yoga, meditation, and deep listening are powerful tools for radical healing and promoting equity in our communities.

With a love for poetry, philosophy, music, and science, you’ll find eclectic wisdom and humor woven through Lara’s classes.

Students are encouraged to focus their attention inward, breathe deep, and challenge themselves to tap into their innate intelligence in a safe and supportive space.
